Foundry sand is composed of a mixture of refractory sand (silica) and a binder (bentonite) which is humidified and mixed in a grinder. This mixture will be used for the design of single-use molds. The part used for reproduction is called the master model. It can be made of wood, resin or metal. A second frame prepared in the same way will cover the first to conform to the shape of the part.
